A MOTHER of three was on Saturday night found dead in her lot 7 Manilla, West Mahaicony home.
Thirty-one year old housewife, Vanessa Seeram’s body was reportedly found hanging by her husband of 15 years, Devendra Seeram also known as “Ochro” who works as a truck driver and with whom the woman would usually have frequent arguments with infidelity being the accusation.
Speaking with the Guyana Chronicle yesterday in De Hoop Mahaica yesterday, the brother of the now dead woman, Ganesh Maye said that his brother- in- law showed up at his home on Saturday night to report that his wife, Maye’s sister was found hanging in their home a village away.
The man said that he immediately called the Mahaica Police Station where he related the news to the police there who advised that he come down to the station and make a report.
Maye said that he informed the police officer that it was his brother-in- law who made the discovery and delivered the message and that the man was standing right beside him.
The police then ordered that they all visit the station which they did.
Maye however was not required to give any statement but it was the woman’s 15-year old son and reputed husband who the police took statements from.
According to the dead woman’s brother after the statements were taken from the two they travelled to the home where the discovery was made. The man said that he had some difficulty gaining entry to the home because of the presence of the police who initially barred him from doing so since they wanted to first know his relation to the woman.
Ganesh Maye explained that when he ventured into the home he saw his sister’s lifeless body on a chair with her tongue out of her mouth with a belt wrapped around her neck. The man added that the belt was below the level of the woman’s neck.
He said that he is of the view that his sister was murdered because of the position in which he saw her when he ventured into the home which was first visited by the police. When asked if he questioned the police or if they met the woman in that position upon their entry to the home or not he responded in the negative.
The children are presently staying at the home of their uncle in De Hoop, Mahaica.
Meanwhile the relatives of the woman got a surprise when the woman’s 13- year old daughter began to be questioned by this reporter. The second former was asked about the relationship between her father and mother to which she replied, “It was rocky.”
The young girl explained that her mother and father would argue frequently and in most cases it would be about both parents accusing each other of being unfaithful. The girl said that it was her mother who usually accuses her father of being unfaithful to her and he would in turn tell her that it was she who was the unfaithful one.
However, when asked by this reporter if she ever saw her mother in any sexual posture with any other male the teenager responded in the positive.
She said that she never told her father about the development but it was ongoing for a while and she is of the view that her older brother might have informed his father.
The young lady said that the last time she saw her mother in the company of the man was about a month ago and that the man resides in central Mahaica.
She said that the last time her dad and mom had an argument about infidelity was last week Monday.
The entire revelation about her mother being friendly with another man took the relatives by surprise with the uncle asking the young girl if it was true and questioned why she never brought it to anyone’s attention. She said that she is unaware if her father ever saw the other man.
Meanwhile shortly after speaking with this publication yesterday afternoon the teenager had to be rushed to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital after she took ill. Up to late last evening medical personnel at the institution were closely monitoring the young girl who it is believed might have been affected by the death of her mother. The age of the third child is four.
On Saturday night when the discovery was made the children were not at home but were at a function a few streets away and it was only after their father showed up at the function to collect them that they became aware of the death of their mother.
At present the woman’s husband, Devendra Seeram is in police custody assisting with the investigations. The death took place just hours after another woman was discovered with multiple stab wounds about the body at Kuru Kuru on Saturday afternoon.
The woman was allegedly murdered by her reputed husband who then attempted suicide. He was however rescued from himself and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he is recovering well under police guard.
