Damage to property offender asks for 21 days but gets six months

ELVIS Fredrick was sentenced to jail on Thursday, June 6, when he appeared before Magistrate Sherdell Isaacs at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court, charged with damage to property.

He admitted that on Tuesday, May 14 at Zeeburg, West Coast Demerara, he damaged a quantity of electrical household appliances, including one refrigerator along with a transformer, a total loss of $581,000.
The magistrate asked Fredrick how long he would like to spend in the Camp Street prison and he responded twenty-one days, but he was sentenced to six months.
