IN ITS continuing efforts to promote and develop sports in Guyana, the National Sports Commission (NSC) will launch its camps and Teach Them Young programmes during the August holidays.
Approximately 300 camps will be held in various parts of the country.
Teach Them Young programmes will include cricket, swimming, cycling, table tennis, basketball, volleyball, chess and football.
A Learn to Swim programme will commence in September. Further information will released soon.
There will be camps in Essequibo, Berbice and Linden. Interior areas will also be fully involved in this year’s camps.
The general public is advised to take advantage of these opportunities.

Summer Swimming programmes at the Colgrain Pool, July 8 to August 12, with children 6-11 years learning from 09:00hrs to 10:15hrs and children 12-16 years from 10:30hrs to 11:35hrs.
Isabel Maria Couso Fals from Cuba along with five local coaches will be in charge of the programme. Application forms can be uplifted at Colgrain Swimming Pool from June 10 during office hours or contact Desiree Cummings on 226-0387 or Abraham Watson on 222-1306, 649-5562.
The closing date for registration of events is on July 2.
