POLICE arrested seven men after they found several unlicensed guns and a quantity of ammunition and cocaine on Friday and Saturday respectively in separate incidents.
At about 14:25 hrs on Friday last as police ranks approached a group of men who were acting suspiciously at Plum Park, Sophia one of them pulled out a firearm and discharged rounds in the direction of the ranks. The police returned fire and the man threw away the firearm and surrendered. No one was injured.
The unlicensed .38 special revolver with two spent shells were recovered by the police and the man along with three other men who were with him was arrested.
They are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
Two men were arrested at about 21:30 hrs on Friday last when police conducted a search on a shop at Barima Line, Baramita, during which they found an unlicensed .32 pistol with nine matching rounds.

Police stopped and searched a man at about 01:30 hrs on Saturday last at Cross Street, Georgetown, and found 50 rounds 9mm. ammunition and 3.5 grammes of cocaine in his possession.
He has been arrested and charges will be made shortly.
