THE Police have taken action to prevent a pitbull from continuing to terrorise members of the public commuting in Manatee Place, South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown.
It follows an attack by the dog, last Thursday, on employees of Cevon’s Waste Management, who were collecting garbage in the area.
The animal, which often gets out of the premises of its owner, Ryburn Fraser, darted towards the three men, one of whom, in his bid to escape being bitten, accidentally, damaged the motor car owned by Guyana Chronicle Assistant Editor George Baird.
The other two men working on the same truck ran in different directions, including over Baird’s fence during the 14:00 hrs drama.
Armed Police ranks responded to the reported incident, shortly after, but could not find Fraser, who had left his home. However, North Ruimveldt Outpost, which is in the vicinity of the location, sent another group yesterday and they delivered a “serious warning” to Fraser.
They said he was admonished to ensure that the ferocious animal remains under control and is no longer able to leave where it is kept in his yard unleashed.
The man told the investigators that he was unaware of the scare caused by his canine.
