ON night two of the National Guinness Greatest of the Street Football Challenge, the preliminary round wrapped up with the final four matches then the event had its grand finale last night at the Demerara Park (Banks DIH parking lot).
In tomorrow’s issue the final results will be released. On Sunday night Hard Core defeated Victoria, Plaisance got past Millennium, Back Circle trounced Silent Assassins and Silver Bullets got the better of Leopold Street.
The opening match of the night saw Hard Core and Victoria battle to a stalemate before the penalty shootout where Hard Core won 4-3.
Plaisance defeated Millennium 3-1. A double from Warren Gilkes (12th, 20th) and a goal from Teyon Esmond (17th) were more than enough to annul the lone goal scored by Orland Angus for the opposition.
The penultimate game of the night saw regional runners-up, Back Circle win 3-0 over Silent Assassins, as Andy Duke (8th, 19th) and his teammate Wayne Wilson (3rd) opened the scoring.
Goals from Nigel Bennette (8th) and Clifton Alley (14th) for Silver Bullets ensured a win over Leopold Street.
Earlier in the night, Guinness Bar defeated Oasis Taxi Service in the exhibition tournament then Banks DIH defeated the Media team.
