ON this, the 47th, Anniversary of our Independence, I extend ‘Happy Anniversary Greetings’ to all my Guyanese brothers and sisters.

May we, each year, be ever more aware that it is for us, individually and together, to build our country and nation, by applying our hearts and hands and heads to the tasks before us; and by showing care and concern for, and extending kindness to, each other.
The goods and services, and the relationships that we enjoy are the goods and services and relationships at which we would have worked and produced, individually and together, and which we would have exchanged with each other – no more, no less. Let us make that sufficient!
On this day, let us again embrace each other with a renewed commitment to work for the prosperity of each other!
