Reggae Boyz hold Spurs to stalemate with Mexico clash in sight

NASSAU, Bahamas (CMC) – Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz played to a nil-all draw in an exhibition game with English Premiership side Tottenham Hotspurs, as they warmed up for their crucial World Cup qualifier against Mexico on June 4.

Playing at the spanking new $30M Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium here Thursday night, both sides created chances but failed to find the back of the nets.
Jamaica, the only English-speaking Caribbean side in the race for a spot at the 2014 World Cup finals, are currently bottom of the CONCACAF standings on two points without a single win.
Jamaica started positively, with Jeremie Lynch and Jermaine Hue creating chances within the opening half-hour.
Former Preston North End frontman Keammar Daley then struck the post as both teams went to the break with empty scoresheets.
Just before the break, Spurs lost Kyle Walker who hobbled off the pitch following a strong challenge from Evan Taylor.
The second half was a repeat of the first, as both teams tried but failed to make any serious inroads.
With Spurs hoping to come away with a win, manager Andre Villas-Boas brought star winger Gareth Bale off the bench after 60 minutes, and the Welshman instantly excited the crowd with several exciting runs down the right side.
Steven Caulker did find the back of the nets in the 84th minute but the effort was ruled off-side.
The game was a collaboration between Tottenham football club and the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.
