WITH the advent of focusing on sustainable mining I salute the initiative of the newly formed Ministry responsible for mining in Guyana.

Indeed for too long mining in Guyana has been under severe constraints, poor environmental practices, smuggling of produced minerals, trafficking in persons and so many other negative actions.
I am so delighted to hear of ‘operation El Dorado ‘in action. I know many miners and those related to mining may cry foul since their toes will be mashed. Changes will have to be made, if our country is to move forward and improve in the area of mining.
The launching of this big operation is most welcome by myself and many other conscious mineral on all those involved and to those who will be affected in some way or the other to cooperate with the authorities so as to make our mining districts more organised, sustainable and free from those who break the law and disorganise mining activities.
There is information at the Library situated in the compound of G.G.M.C which miners need to use and educate themselves.
I call on all those involved to cooperate once again.
