POLICE have secured vital information that has led to progress in their investigations into the murders of Totaram and Bhagmattie Mootoo at their Area ‘Q’ Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown home that was torched on May 10.
Making the disclosure, yesterday, Crime Chief Seelall Persaud said they obtained it from three suspects who were arrested and questioned on Wednesday.
Post-mortems performed on the bodies of cambio dealer and his wife revealed that he died of smoke inhalation compounded by blunt trauma, while she succumbed to blunt trauma to the back and burns.
The charred remains of the couple were found in their bed following an explosion in the house.
Police had reported that, about 00:35 hrs on May 10, what remained of Totaram Mootoo, called ‘Beer’, 54, and Bhagmattie Mootoo, known as ‘Dolly’, 48, were discovered in their bedroom on the upper flat of their house that was destroyed by fire.
