MOHAMED Alli, a father of four, confessed to using foul language towards his sister when he appeared before Cove & John Magistrate Zamilla Alli on Wednesday, May 8.
Police prosecutor Rushell Alexander related that on Friday, May 5, the man verbally abused and threatened his sister Shereen Alli at Industry, East Coast Demerara.
Mohamed pleaded guilty to the charges, but explained that he had only cursed his sister; he did not threaten to kill her. He stressed that the death threats had been made to her dog, which had urinated on the ground.
Mohamed also apologised to his sister and the court, but was nevertheless fined $10,000 or twenty days’ imprisonment on the threatening charge, and $5,000 or ten days’ imprisonment on the abusive language charge.
