THIRTY-YEAR-OLD Robindra Deonarine of Lot 96 Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara was fined $10,000 by Cove & John Magistrate Zamilla Alli when he appeared before her on Wednesday, May 8, charged with unlawful assault of his wife, Shabanna Khan, on Sunday, May 5, at Vryheid’s Lust.

The court was told that Shabanna Khan was with a friend at a restaurant when Deonarine confronted her with an accusation of infidelity, and dealt her several slaps about the face.
Shabanna Khan reported the assault at the Sparendaam Police Station, and Deonarine was arrested and charged. He admitted to the particulars of the charge, and was bonded to keep the peace for one year, besides being fined $10,000.
