Angry son placed on $30,000 bail for damaging mother’s water tank

RAVI Persaud of Annandale, East Coast Demerara is alleged to have unlawfully and maliciously damaged one black water tank valued $30,000, being the movable property of his mother, Ramrajie Persaud. The offence was said to have been committed on Wednesday, May 1, at Annandale, East Coast Demerara.

When he appeared before Magistrate Zamilla Alli at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday last, charged with damage to property, the young man pleaded guilty and attributed his actions to the adverse influence of alcohol.

But according to the defendant’s mother, she was at home celebrating her granddaughter’s birthday when she heard the accused and his brother arguing. An incensed Ravi then ascended her roof and damaged the tank. The police were summoned and he was subsequently arrested.
