CECIL Gittens, of Lot 152 Prospect, East Bank Demerara and Keon Beckles, of Lot 249 Blue Sackie Drive, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, both pleaded not guilty to narcotics possession yesterday, before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry. Particulars of the offence said that, on May 10, at Prospect, they had 10 grammes of cannabis sativa (marijuana).
Police Prosecutor Kerry Bostwick said ranks, acting on information received, conducted a search at Gittens’ home and found the illegal substance in a pot in his kitchen.
Both the defendants were in the house at the time and Gittens admitted that he smokes marijuana.
The prosecutor did not object and the men were granted bail in the sum of $50,000 each, pending their return to Court on May 17.
