Based on his claims, Moseley should resign from his job

THE Demerara Waves online news site on Thursday May 2, 2013 reported that President of the Guyana Press Association, Gordon Moseley, in his address during a function held by the U.S Embassy to mark World Press Freedom Day described the awarding of licences by the administration of former President Bharrat Jagdeo as “unfair and surreptitious.”

Moseley was also quoted as saying:  “We would hope that good sense, justice and fair play will prevail and issues surrounding these (frequencies) assignments will be finally investigated and corrected under the terms and conditions that created the moratorium and within the Constitution and Laws of Guyana.”
It is clear by this pronouncement that the GPA President is of the view that the awarding of these licences was done in an unfair manner and an act of injustice was perpetrated against those applicants that were unsuccessful. Moseley’s media and opposition colleagues have also stated their belief that licences were awarded only to “PPP friends and family”. In other words, it was the relationship of those granted licences with the PPP which influenced the decision.
Considering Moseley’s position on the matter, and his public pronouncement, then the ethical and moral thing would’ve been for the GPA president to immediately resign from the job he holds at 94.1 Boom FM.
Yesterday May 10 makes it 57 days since the information regarding the awardees became public and Moseley has still held on to his job at the station despite believing that the licence to broadcast  was done during a process that was “unfair and surreptitious” illegal and a process which infringed upon the rights of others that he hopes will be “investigated and corrected.”
