Scores of persons, organisations benefit from successful seminars hosted by NIS

THE National Insurance Scheme (NIS) recently conducted three one (1) day Educational Seminars/Workshops for NIS Clerks on April 17, 23 and 24, 2013 respectively.

altThe objectives of the seminars were to:

 

(i) Offer organisations the opportunity to upgrade and improve the NIS knowledge which NIS Clerks require to perform tasks efficiently and effectively.
(ii) Facilitate a better working relationship between the NIS and other entities.

According to Publicity and Public Relations Officer of the NIS,  Dianne Lewis Baxter, the following areas were covered during the course of each seminar:-

(i) NIS in perspective
(ii) Issues relating to registration
(iii) Issues relating to compliance
(iv) Electronic Submission of contributions
(v) Benefits and Qualifying conditions
(vi) Caricom Reciprocal Agreement
(vii) Factors Affecting payment of Benefits

altShe said the seminars were held on the NIS Roof Garden, Brickdam and Winter Place and saw over 100 participants who were each presented with a certificate at the end of their respective sessions.
Participation, Ms. Baxter said, came from the following agencies/employers:
