Police release persons detained in Gaumont Hotel murder probe

Deputy Police Commissioner Seelall Persaud has said that the owner of the Gaumont hotel and a female sex worker, who were arrested for questioning in relation to the murder of 70-year-old Frederick Thomas, have been released from police custody, but the police are looking for a third suspect.

Thomas was found on the stairway of the Gaumont Hotel at High Street, Georgetown with a stab wound to his chest, at about 14:30 hours on April 15 last. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the GPH.
Initially, three women and two men had been detained in police custody; but, so far, no motive for the murder has been established by the police.
