CRIME Chief Seelall Persaud yesterday said the nine suspects who were held following the homicide of 89-year-old Millicent Cummings of Cove and John, East Coast Demerara have all been released after DNA samples had been taken from three men.
He said those samples would be sent overseas for testing, and that would take some time; but the suspects — all from the Cove and John community — some of whom are drug addicts (junkies), have all been released pending investigations.
The bloodied and semi-nude body of Millicent Cummings was found on April 12, 2013 under a house at Cove and John, East Coast Demerara. She had been bludgeoned to death. A post-mortem performed on her body by Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh gave the cause of death as severe, blunt trauma to the face.
