Scotiabank Pepsi football … Mackenzie High hammer Harmony 12-0 after hat-tricks from Campbell and Andrews

A HAT-TRICK of goals each from the boots of Shaquille Campbell and Quailon Andrew propelled Mackenzie High School to flex their muscles and signal their intention clearly as they crushed Harmony Secondary 12-0, while Christianburg/Wismar Secondary and New Silvercity Secondary played to a 1-1 stalemate, as the Linden leg of the Scotia Pepsi Schools Under-15 Football Academy (SPS A) began in earnest Saturday at the Wisburg Secondary School ground.

Playing what was actually the first official game of the tournament which began last Saturday with the participating schools in attendance at the March Past, Mackenzie High stamped their mark from the opening whistle as Jesse Marshall netted in the 6th minute for a 1-0 lead.
Three minutes later Campbell got his first of three goals in the 9th minute with the second coming in the 14th minute, while Andrews who also scored thrice knocked in his first in the 5th minute for a 4-0 lead.
By then floodgates were open and Vondell Nelson added goal number five in the 22nd minute for MHS which was followed by another for Campbell before on the stroke of half-time DeNelson Rose scored in the 35th minute for a 7-0 score l.ine.
After the break, welcomed by Harmony, and before Donguan Wilson made it 8-0 for MHS with his goal coming in the 44th minute.  Andrews collected his second, the ninth of the game, in the 48th minute before Ochkolo Peters weighed in with a goal in the 52nd minute as Taffon Alexander joined in the ‘goal shout’, scoring in the 55th minute and Andrews scoring his third goal in the 56th minute.
In the second game of the double-header Christianburg Wismar Secondary ‘Multi’ and New Silvercity Secondary played their hearts out but neither side came out  winners.
Doubles were recorded for each side by Jermaine Campbell for New Silvercity Secondary who scored in the 28th  minute after an opposing player ‘handled the ball’ in the box and in the 54th minute from open play. Javon Babb had the two goals for the ‘Multi’ boys which came in the 43rd and 58th minutes of the game.
