Police destroy marijuana plants, camps on Phagwah Day

POLICE, on a Phagwah Day drug eradication exercise, destroyed acres of cannabis sativa (marijuana) plants, nurseries and camps.

It happened during a raid at Hauraruni, Upper Demerara River, in which approximately eight acres of cultivated marijuana, comprising about 12,000 plants ranging in height from one foot to six feet, were subject to destruction.
Similar action was taken at four nurseries, with about 15,000 seedlings at three other camps but no arrests were made.
