Police find unlicensed shotgun in mining camp : – miner shot at ‘Bruk Up’ over gold

A MAN is in custody after police conducted a search of a mining camp and found an unlicensed shotgun on Tuesday.
Police said that at about 16:00hrs on March 26, ranks carried out a search at a mining camp at Black Water Backdam, Cuyuni, where they found an unlicensed 12-gauge shotgun. Meanwhile, in a separate incident, at about 16:15hrs on the same day,  miner Robert Grant, 37, of Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara, was involved in an argument over gold with another man at ‘Bruk Up’ Landing, Yarakita, during which he was shot in his legs.
Efforts are being made to get him out for medical attention.
The suspect has not been arrested as yet, according to latest reports.
