THE Guyanese population and those presently holidaying here will have the privilege of witnessing the final air show put on by the Brazilian Squadron with the model of aircraft which will be used today.Today, the team of over 20 will be doing for the Guyanese people several aerial displays along the Georgetown Seawall as part of the anniversary celebration of the local Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). During yesterday’s press conference at the Grand Coastal Inn hours after arriving in Guyana, team members promised Guyanese an “impressive” air show while declaring themselves extremely excited to be here on these shores for such a show, especially on the occasion which is being observed by Guyana’s aviation sector.

The team came to Guyana with eight aircraft, seven of which will be on display for the nation today, while the other will be used to ferry additional crew members and equipment.
There will be five main manoeuvres, and the viewing public can expect to see some of the most incredible air displays, given the more than sixty years experience and history of the Brazilian Air Squadron.

The Team made its first visit and performance in Guyana during 2008, when Guyana hosted the Caribbean Festival of Arts, (Carifesta). The team also performed in the past for all the countries in South America, and other countries in Europe and Egypt, among other places.
Returning to Guyana after five years is truly a wonderful form of appreciation, the team added.

Meanwhile, head of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Zulfikar Mohamed, explained that the decision to have the team back in Guyana was taken in light of the overwhelming response they received back in 2008.
The Air Show begins at 16:00hrs today.
