GFC’s efforts on deforestation should be supported

AS a Guyanese living in Guyana, I feel compelled to voice my opinion and my observation with regard to this ongoing issue of Government/GFC putting in place measures to curb the de-forestation of our dear land. Firstly, it is a total misconception with regard to the talk of government/GFC stalling or impeding efforts to cut trees. The GFC is simply asking for six months notice in advance for the sole purpose of verification, that is to say, if someone is requesting to operate in a specific area. The ground staff/employee (GFC) could verify if it is or is not feasible to cut a tree or a few trees in that area.
Because of the Forestry Commission’s policy of sustainable de-forestation, there is a measurement requirement with regard to the distance between the falling trees. It is widely known that small-scale miners, loggers and farmers hardly ever pay attention to or have regards for the Forestry Commission’s policy of sustainable deforestation.
Having penned my opinion, allow me to express my observation.
I am very familiar with most of the government agencies’ buildings and private sector buildings and businesses, as well as most privately owned businesses in Georgetown and its environs. Having said that, I am sternly penning my observations and challenging anyone to dispute it:
(1)    It is a widely known fact that the GFC, under the Commissioner James Singh, is among the top three state entities in Guyana which provide the most financial inputs into the government’s coffers
(2)     The GFC’s building compound and its fleet of vehicles are among the best kept entities in the country.
Pay a visit to this Kingston office, permit yourself to use the washroom, take a peep into the conference room, observe the standard of cleanliness and maintenance with regard to the compound and its fleet of vehicles. Talk to staff, guards and stakeholders who conduct business with or interact with the GFC, you will undoubtedly agree with me that the policies and directives under Commissioner James Singh serves no other purpose than for the benefit of and betterment of the citizens of Guyana and the continued sustainability of our forest.
Come on, support the Forestry Commission’s efforts to monitor the deforestation of our dear land.
