BEFORE Georgetown Magistrate Leron Daley, 24-year-old Michael Burnette (no address given) yesterday pleaded not guilty to the offence of unlawful assault allegedly committed on his wife, Shavonne Burnette, at Third Street, Alberttown on Wednesday, March 6.

Attorney-at-law Mr. Paul Fung-a-Fat, representing the defendant, told the court that the virtual complainant (VC) and the defendant are husband and wife; and that on the day in question, the VC asked her husband to purchase underwear for her and he refused, causing an argument to develop between the couple and she hit the defendant.
The VC had, however, already decided not to give evidence against the defendant, and the case was consequently dismissed.
