TWO women charged with abusing each other left the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, East Coast Demerara, yesterday under orders to cook for each other in their respective homes.
Sonita Smith and Leslyn Waldron (no addresses given) pleaded not guilty, before Magistrate Alex Moore, to using abusive language to one another on Wednesday, February 27, at Sparendaam.
Smith told the court that she and Waldron are not friends, but communicate on Facebook only for business purposes.
Waldron said their court appearance arose from “name talking” on Facebook, and on the day in question, she was passing Smith’s home when the latter ran out of her yard with a green bottle and abused her.
Magistrate Moore asked both women what was their individual favourite dish, and ordered that each visit the other’s home, cook the meal, and discuss issues.
Smith will visit Waldron on Saturday, March 16, and be provided with a meal of spaghetti and prawns. The following Saturday, March 23, Waldron will be Smith’s guest for a dish including salted beef. In addition, both Smith and Waldron were bonded to keep the peace for three months, with the alternative of one week’s imprisonment.
The women are to report the outcome of their discussions to the court on March 25.
