JUST before Mash Day folks at the Peter’s Hall Primary School on the East Bank Demerara took to the streets to celebrate their annual School Mash Road Parade.
Students of Grades One to Grade Six adorned in colourful costumes and awesome masks waved the Golden Arrowhead with child-like abandon. The Mash Road Parade journeyed through Azore Street, then into Clarke Street, and back to the East Bank Public Road before returning to the school compound.
School Representative, Burdetta Etwuah noted that the event is an annual feature and it’s much anticipated by the students.
Meanwhile, she was very elated that this newspaper paid interest in their Mash festivities, claiming that some schools on the East Bank Demerara have always been left out of Mashramani media coverage.
Students swayed and pranced to music from a local stereo sound and enjoyed refreshments provided for them through the combined efforts of the school and the Parent/Teacher Association.
