Police report no breakthrough yet in Taljit disappearance

ACTING Commissioner Leroy Brumell said, yesterday, that the Guyana Police Force (GPF) is still investigating the December disappearance of Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) employee Levoy Taljit. The Top Cop said the suspect they had held for questioning about the missing man has since been released on station bail and ordered to check with the police weekly.
Brumell also said Guyana Police have been in contact with their counterparts in neighbouring Suriname about the probe.
He said that approach was adopted because local police received reports that Taljit may be there but, so far, there has not been any breakthrough or headway in the case.

Correct person charged in Mon Repos accident
ACTING Commissioner Leroy Brumell has said that, based on what he was told, police have charged the right person after investigating the fatal accident in which two persons were killed at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, two weeks ago.
He was reacting to issues raised since the collision between a minibus and Tundra, resulting in several other persons being injured, as well.
Questions had been asked about whether another person was at the wheel of the Tundra that Sunday night.
But Brumell informed the Guyana Chronicle that he had spoken with the Commander of the Police ‘C’ Division, where the fatalities occurred and, on the basis of what he was advised, he is confident that the charges were laid against the correct person.
