Guyana, T&T police working together on Achaia execution – no suspect has been arrested as yet

GUYANESE Crime Chief, Seelall Persaud has said that local police have given their Trinidad counterparts the necessary background information in the Tyron Achaia murder probe.

altBut, apart from that, there is nothing further Guyana cops can supply which may lead to an arrest in the twin island republic, where Achaia was executed on January 8.
However, the dead man’s relatives said they still believe he was killed because of an expensive gold chain and band he had lent a friend from his Trinidad workplace, who refused to return the jewellery.
Speaking from their Good Hope, East Coast Demerara home, the family members, who did not wish to be named, told the Guyana Chronicle they were informed about the jewels by a close friend in whom the victim confided shortly before he was gunned down.
Achaia’s mother, Shanaz Achaia, 48, of Lot 381 Good Hope New Housing Scheme, said she visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last week and was told to wait for two months, for redress, as the killing is under investigation in Trinidad.
The woman said she was also advised that the police in Trinidad are in the process of acquiring the printout of her son’s cell phone and laptop conversations.
Tyron Achaia, 28, formerly of Lot 381 Good Hope New Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, was buried in Guyana in January but no one has been arrested for the crime.
He suffered one gunshot to the chest from close range, he collapsed and died after the gunman fled the scene in a motor car just outside Achaia’s apartment.
At the time, Achaia was returning home after doing his laundry next door. He was not married and had no children.
