A MAN, charged with simple larceny, told Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo, Tuesday that he did not steal the ducks mentioned in the charge but the birds flew into his yard at 02:00 hrs and his dog ran away with them.

After he pleaded not guilty, the fisherman, Arun Ramosad, 18, of Kilcoy Squatting Area, who appeared at New Amsterdam, was granted $20,000 bail and the case was transferred to Albion Court, at Corentyne, Berbice, for March 5.
Police Corporal Orin Joseph, prosecuting, said that on February 3, the virtual complainant, Goberdhan Motee received a telephone call, informing him that the defendant had jumped his fence and was in his yard.
Motee said, armed with a flashlight, he went to the back of his yard, where he saw the defendant, who is his neighbour, returning to his own yard with the ducks in his hands.
He raised an alarm but the defendant is alleged to have escaped with the birds valued $12,000.
