GT&T extends e-magine broadband service to 25 new areas

A larger segment of the population countrywide will now have access to the possibilities available through high speed internet service with the turn up of GT&T’s e-magine DSL internet service in the mining town of Linden in the south and Cane Grove to Crabwood Creek in the east. The service, which was turned up on February 1, covers 25 additional exchange areas, including Linden Central and Amelia’s Ward in Region 10, and Regions 5 and 6.
In Cane Grove, Mahaica, locations that received this service were Strathaven, Bagatelle, Uplands, Diamond, Virginia and Cane Grove. Planter’s Hall, Mahaicony saw Brookhall, Fairfield, Quakers Hall, Des Kinderen, Zeeland, Cottage and Belmont accessing the service.

In Mahaicony District, it was Airy Hall, Bushy Park, Sophia’s Hope, Farm, Wash Clothes, New Providence, Zeskendren, Perth, Felicity, Enterprise, Mahaicony, Little Abary, Mortice, Dundee, Grove, Huntley and Fellowship that were afforded this high speed internet service.

Other locations included Catherine, Novar, Good Faith, Recess, Calcutta, Abary, Sans Souci, Letter T, Adventure, and Retrieve in the upper East Coast Demerara area, and Ithaca, Blairmont.

In West Berbice, the service went to Tempe, Belle Vue, Litchfield, Cottage, Jacoba, Moon Park, Phoenix, Kingelly, Brahan, Ross, Yeoville, Golden Grove, Chester, Britannia, Tempe, Union, Trafalgar, Onverwagt, Lovely Lass, Ithaca and Blairmont.
Bush Lot, Armadale, Bel Air, Catherinas Lust, Hopetown, No.2, Onderneeming and Fort Wellington were also recipients.

The service was also extended to Bath, Waterloo, Woodley Park, Woodlands, Friends, Retreat, Expectation, Experiment, and Naarstigheid in West Coast Berbice.

In the Corentyne area, the DSL service is now available in Sheet Anchor, Kintyre, Palmyra, Sea Well, Forte Ordinance, No. 2 Village, Sheet Anchor, Cumberland, Canefield, Nuclear Yard, Plantation RoseHall-East Canje, and Cumberland.
Other areas included Adelphi, Reliance, Good Banana Land, Betsy Ground, Gangaram, Adelphi, Kilcoy, Albion, Chesney, Courtland, Fyrish, Gibraltar, Kilcoy, No.1 Road, and Nigg (Belvedere, Nigg).

The service is also available in Hampshire (Williamsburg, Hampshire), Port Mourant, Ankerville, Bound Yard, Freeyard, Miss Phoebe, Port Mourant Portuguese Quarters, Adventure, Bushlot, Alness, Salton, Hogstyle, Limlair, Friendship, Nurney, Kildonan, Adventure, No.34 (Maida, Kilmarnock, No. 34 to No. 37), and Brighton (No. 38 to No 47 Villages).
 
In addition, GT&T’s e-magine broadband service is available in  No. 52 (No. 48 to No. 52 villages), and Benab (which includes No. 53 to No. 67 Villages).

Further up the Corentyne Coast, villages to benefit from GT&T’s e-magine DSL service include Massiah which covers areas from No. 68 to No. 72 villages; No.76 which covers Clonbrook, Stockholm, Spring Gardens, Hamlet, No. 73-No.78 Villages, Scottsburg, Dukestown and Princetown Crabwood Creek which includes the commercial and residential areas of Crabwood Creek.

Meanwhile, for this month, GT&T is offering new customers in these areas half-price ($7,500) on the standard DSL modems, while existing customers will be upgraded to the standard DSL service for a one-month period, compliments of GT&T.

After the one-month period customers have the option of maintaining the Standard Service or taking the Lite Service.

To facilitate customers in the Berbice area, the GT&T team will be having mobile fairs as follows:
* February 9 – Imran & Sons, Rose Hall
* February 10 – Subnauth Hardware Store, No 64 Village, Benab
* February 16 – R. Samaroo Sensation, Skeldon
* February 17 – Arman Mohamed, Crabwood Creek
The fairs will be held from 09:00 to 14:00hrs.
Customers in Linden and Amelia’s Ward can sign up for the service at the GT&T’s Linden Business Office.

GT&T, together with Telesur, two years ago, invested US$60M in the Suriname Guyana Submarine Cable System which enables the company to offer this high speed data service.

During a recent media brunch, GT&T acting CFO Sonita Jagan outlined the rollout of this internet service to Berbice and Linden as part of the first quarter work programme for the company.

Also on the cards for first quarter implementation are additional cell sites and other data service initiatives to various areas in the country.
