Prime Minister Samuel Hinds last Monday helped to turn the sod for the construction on Charlotte Street of the new $80M headquarters of Marics – the chief distributor of Honda automobiles in Guyana. The company also launched their “Honda Big Tent Event” promotion. Operations Manager Mr. Winston Willabus, in his welcoming remarks, said that this event is to celebrate Marics products and to “commemorate a plan that is millions in the making.”
He further stated that this new facility will cost over $80M and the new plan and rendition are exactly up to the task of showcasing how far the company has come.
Willabus added that the brand new facility will be of two storeys with a large showroom at the bottom, and eventually management will be looking to make the building four storeys high.
The Operations Manager noted that the original design was scrapped and Honda’s regional representatives in Brazil wanted something that was more “up to the standard of the brand,” adding that the old facility was broken down and dilapidated.
He also said that a new facility was required to show the large array of products that Marics as the official supplier of Honda products will have on display.
Managing Director Mr. John Permaul stated that he was pleased to be part of a company that was striving to bring to Guyana an industry standard of excellence.
He announced that the promotion, “The Honda Big Tent Event” would last until March 1 and a generator would be given away at the end of the event. Permaul also observed that for the past two years Marics has undergone a change in its management and as a result, the company has prospered through strategy and customer loyalty.
He highlighted also that discounts will be offered to all customers from five per cent to the VAT tax being taken off.
Prime Minister Samuel Hinds in his remarks stated that the Honda Company, which started in 1937 and has since become one of the largest companies in the world, known for quality products and service, should be an example for all persons to follow. He also pointed out that if one wants a better life, then they have to become better at the work they do.
