GENERAL Equipment (Guyana) Limited has donated $1M towards the rehabilitation of St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, to mark its 20 years of service in this country.
A press release said head of the donor company, Mr. Renger van Dijk, remarked that even though they have been within the local agricultural sector for that period, it is time to focus not only on its growth but that of other entities in Guyana.
He said St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, being an important factor to the health care providers in Guyana, is seen as one such opportunity to give back.
Mr. van Dijk also took the opportunity to donate an additional $1M from the affiliated company, Farm Supplies Ltd.
Receiving the donation, on behalf of the hospital, Mr. Christopher Fernandes applauded the company for it and highlighted the importance, noting that it will go towards rebuilding the edifice destroyed by fire.
