A MAN broke down into tears, yesterday, after he was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for unlawful wounding. Trevor Paul (no address given) appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman and pleaded guilty to having, on November 12 last, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Travis Eastman.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, informed the Court that the convict lives with the mother of the virtual complainant’s child.
The Prosecutor said, that day, Eastman went to the woman’s home to collect a travelling bag and an argument arose between him and Paul, who cuffed him in his face and then stabbed him with a knife on his left side back.
The Prosecutor said Eastman was hospitalised at Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) and Paul was recently arrested.
The defendant told the Court that Eastman and his reputed wife have a child together and he would harass her for sex.
Paul told the Court he is not a violent person but Eastman kept kicking his front door and he became annoyed.
When the magistrate pronounced sentence, Paul seemed surprised and burst into tears.
