THE sport of Table Tennis was given a further boost yesterday when Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Dr Frank Anthony presented various Regional Education Officers (REO) with a quantity of equipment which he says will aid in his Ministry’s drive to spread the game.

New boards, balls and racquets are part of the equipment given and according DR. Anthony, “This is actually a continuing process where we intend to see all the regions in Guyana being equipped with these essentials. Today we feel honoured to be part of enhancing the sport of table tennis in Guyana.”
Minister Anthony added, “We don’t intend to stop there because we have a Level Three table tennis coach attached to the Ministry so we will liaison with the REOs to conduct various courses for teachers. This process I must say will be carried out across the country.”
The REO of Region 8, Ronald Harsawack, thanked Minister Anthony for the contribution he described as “timely” since “all the REOs are pushing their teachers and schools to be sport-oriented but often equipment is lacking so we’re all pleased and happy for this donation from the Sport Ministry”.
