Mohamed wins Lifetime Real Estate Sukhram Memorial golf tourney

FORMER national cricketer David Mohamed, now playing golf, captured the Lifetime Real Estate sponsored Basil Sukhram Memorial golf tourney played last Saturday at the Lusignan Golf Club.

The tournament was played in honour of former golfer Basil Sukhram who died following a heart attack in 2009 after teeing off at the fifth hole at the club.
Sukhram, was the father of national female champion Christine Sukhram who assisted and shared in the top places of the tournament which saw William Walker placing second with a handicap of 6, gross 78 and net 72 on recount followed by Clifford Reis with a handicap of 20, gross 95 and net 75 in third place and Christine Sukhram in fourth with a handicap of 10, gross 86 and net 76.
Kashif Amsterdam, representing the sponsors spoke of his organization’s commitment to continued support for the sport and moreso this tournament and wished the winners success for the rest of the year.
Secretary of the club David Mohamed in his brief remarks remembered Basil Sukhram as a coach, player, cadi, administrator of the club and a motivator to many on the course during tournaments.
His professionalism was a proven attribute to the club as today we see in his daughter Christine, Avenash Persaud, Alfred Mentore, among others who have taken the sport to another level.
Mohamed expressed thanks to the sponsors and extended condolences to Christine who was present on behalf of the executives and members of the Lusignan Golf Club.
