Police still investigating Annandale homicide –no arrest made as yet

FOLLOWING the brutal murder of Annandale, East Coast Demerara businessman Kamal Ramsahoye, 38, on December 9, police yesterday said they have not yet made any arrest, but detectives are working on some leads, and the case is still being investigated.

altRamsahoye was stabbed seven times in his back and three times in his chest, confirming his relatives’ suspicions that the murder was premeditated and perpetrated by a person or persons he had known.
A post-mortem performed on Ramsahoye’s body confirmed he had died from shock and haemorrhage occasioned by multiple stab wounds.
Since Ramsahoye had been attacked and killed in daylight, relatives also believe there are witnesses to the crime who have not yet come forward to assist in solving the homicide.

They have asked that persons who may have seen the suspects fleeing the scene or ‘something’, should pass on the information to the police, so that the culprits can be brought to justice.
The deceased, known as Vicky, was killed in his home when he was preparing to open his grocery shop.

He had been cleaning his yard when he was attacked, and was home alone at the time.
Relatives say cash and jewellery had been stolen from the businessman.
Tulsieram Ramsahoye, called ‘Anno’, a brother who lives a few houses away, stated that their mother saw his sibling’s shop still shut and they decided to telephone him, but got no response, causing the family to become very concerned, as the shop owner’s wife is currently staying at her mother’s residence and is expecting their first child.
His other brothers went to the premises and found a door open and Ramsahoye lying in a pool of blood.

After they raised an alarm, other persons converged on the scene, and it was discovered that a bedroom had been ransacked and bloody handprints had been left on various pieces of furniture, walls, and the broken chest of drawers where the shopkeeper kept his money and jewellery.
There was no evidence of forced entry into the building, fuelling suspicion that the attacker(s) was/were persons he had known.
