RPA General Secretary, Dharamkumar Seeraj said there is no indication that the blossoming rice industry is in limbo.

A NEW concept in television programming has been introduced to Guyana with the country’s first movie channel.

altFLIX TV, transmitting on Channel 46/Cable 102, plans to provide a unique programme line-up that will educate and entertain viewers of all age groups and preferences.
Ms. Marcelle Rahman, who is responsible for the introduction, said while the network is being dubbed the movie channel, its shows are diverse and specially designed to cater for the local television viewership.
In addition to movies, FLIX TV will be showing other features that are currently only accessible to those who have Direct TV or Cable. These include a wide range, such as on home improvement, cooking, sports, music, games and educational things for children, she explained.
Rahman said FLIX TV will also be introducing an innovative Guyanese morning show and newscasts early in 2013.
She said the aim is to introduce a high quality and unique experience for all viewers at no additional cost to any household.

QUALITY TELEVISION

All Guyanese should have access to quality television and children, in particular, should be able to see the new and innovative educational ones, such as those aired on the popular Sprout Television Network, Rahman said.
FLIX TV will be making its schedule available to the public on a daily basis in order to afford viewers the opportunity to know, in advance, what will be shown and at what time.
Rahman claims that this basic feature is often not available on local television and viewers are also being encouraged to follow FLIX TV on Twitter and Facebook for additional information.
She said the network will be having special movie nights on weekends when viewers will get the chance to vote for those they would like to see.
FLIX TV will also be looking to establish partnerships with members of the business community to facilitate key aspects of its operations, Rahman indicated.
