FITZROY Richard Martin (no address given) appeared before Magistrate Leron Daley yesterday, charged with simple larceny. He pleaded not guilty to the offence, details of which said, last November 28, he stole carpentry tools, valued $99,000, property of Samprad Sankar.
The defendant told the Court he is a bus driver and the virtual complainant had travelled in the vehicle and forgot his bag which remained in it while he made about four trips.
He said Sankar, subsequently, went to the park and asked for his bag but it was not in the bus and claiming that he stole it, summoned the Police.
Maintaining that he did not steal the bag, the defendant pointed out that anyone could have taken it.
He was placed on $50,000 bail and the case will be called, again, on January 18, 2013.
