CONFESSED wife killer Anderson Nicholson pleaded guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter when he re-appeared before Justice Roxanne George at the Berbice Assizes yesterday. He had appeared a week ago in the High Court and pleaded not guilty to the capital offence. However, following an adjournment, he had a change of heart and admitted to the unlawful killing of his wife, Trevlyn Nicholson.
The judge then instructed the 12-member jury to return a formal verdict and ordered a probation report on the convict.
State Counsel Prithima Kissoon will present the case for the prosecution on December 17 when the report is to be available.
On that occasion, the mother of the deceased, Rolyn Alexander, who was injured in an attempt to save her daughter during the attack, is expected to make a court appearance.
The 23-year-old dead woman was fatally chopped on October 14, 2008, during a domestic spat at D’Edward Village, West Coast Berbice.
