LOCAL Government & Regional Development Minister Norman Whittaker was discharged from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on Friday last, after undergoing minor surgery, and was yesterday resting comfortably at home. Admitted to the health institution earlier last week, Whittaker’s operation was successfully performed by local doctors at the institution. He is expected to be on bed rest for a few weeks, pending full recovery.
Whittaker, who served as Regional Chairman for Region 1 — Barima-Waini — among other regions, was elevated to the position of Regional Development Minister in 2010; and had, more recently, assumed ministerial responsibility for the Ministry of Local Government.
The Guyana Chronicle joins in wishing Minister Norman Whittaker a speedy recovery. (Shirley Thomas)
