DETECTIVE Inspector Michael Kingston of Divisional Headquarters at Cove and John, East Coast Demerara, yesterday presented an AK-47 rifle and 13 rounds of 7.62X39 ammunition at a Demerara Assizes court.
He said those were found while police were searching for double-murder accused Cyon Collier, called ‘Picture Boy’, when a party of GDF soldiers and policemen searched a house at Bachelor’s Adventure, ECD, where the accused was found along with the AK-47 rifle and ammunition.
The witness said the accused admitted, when challenged about the alleged murder committed on Ray Walcott, called ‘Sugar’ and Carl Andrews, called ‘Alo’, that he had used the rifle to kill the men; and he disclosed that the rifle was in the bedroom.
The witness was testifying at the Cyon Collier, called ‘Picture Boy’, double-murder trial before Madame Justice Diana Insanally and a mixed jury.
The witness said: “On the 5th October, 2006, (at) about 05:00 hours in the morning, as a result of certain information received, myself and a party of policemen, including Inspector Lord, went to Lot 23 Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara to conduct a search for Cyon Collier and other wanted men. We also went with members of the Guyana Defence Force.
“On my arrival at Lot 23 Bachelor’s Adventure, ECD, I contacted the accused at the said address, and I told him that it was alleged that he, on the 23rd September 2006, (at) about 02:45 hours, at Victoria Village, ECD, shot Ray Walcott, called ‘Sugar’ and Carl Andrews, called ‘Alo’, which caused them to die subsequently; and I cautioned him in these terms: ‘You are not obliged to say anything, unless you wish to do so; but whatever you say may be put into writing and given in evidence…
“The accused said, ‘Boss, dem man dis, they violate me, you know…”
Witness said he did not use any force or threat of violence, or offer any reward to the accused to get that response. “I then asked the accused ‘Where is the gun he used to shoot the brothers?’, and he said, “It is in the bedroom.”
Mr. Kingston declared that the arms and ammunition were sent for examination by the analyst.
