I am on record as saying that the one- seat majority of the opposition should be considered a good thing for the mere fact that it gives them a golden opportunity to work together – government and opposition- in a harmonious way to make Guyana a better place.
This is constructive engagement which would bring about untold benefits for a small democracy as ours. But this was not to be;the combined opposition seized the opportunity to create a gridlock with their mindless antics which has created untold hardships for the government and people of this country. The foolishness has reached epic proportions that to date nothing could get done and everything is at a standstill as government is held to ransom and the people are taken backwards with the tomfoolery. Then we might be forced to say that this one-seat majority has turned out to be a nightmare. There is a silver lining behind all of this, a blessing in disguise because the opposition’s lust for power was indeed exposed and this is a good thing. After all, the people would have seen how rabidly obsessed these people are and would have vowed never to allow this craziness to occur again. And I can safely say this-the people are not going to squander their votes again.
In the same vein I pose the question to the people as to Nigel Hughes’s tirade at Thursday’s hearing of the COI. Do you think Hughes acted professionally if not sensibly with the remark “a recess to shoot me.” Most certainly not, this is the behaviour of an out-of-control bully. This PNC hardliner now turned AFC representative who prides himself on acting up when he cannot have his way. It is a sign to them that he is a “tough negotiator.” But let me caution Hughes to moderate his sayings. Neither Hicken nor the government has any interest in shooting him, These are people with very many important things to deal with than to ever consider Hughes a target.
We can safely say that the PPP/C and its adherents are people of peace and progress also. The warmongers, people of hate and destruction is what Hughes and company are made of. What will cause his demise is his own stupidity as he self destructs.
When someone could recruit a foreign expert who then goes against the grain of your own theory, then there is good reason for that person to become belligerent and behave as if he’s lost his mind. Hughes was made a public disgrace of immense proportions and this has taken a toll on the man. An outburst of that nature was predictable. To act in this manner came as no surprise to anyone.
Nigel Hughes was in a cesspool ever since the ballistics expert gave the results of his findings. Therefore, I sympathise with him. Hard luck Nigel, you never saw this coming.
So the easy way out is to act as you have no brain making those inflammatory statements; like a caged animal that is backed up against the wall he lashes out. Poor Nigel!
