THE Sanatan Vaidic Dharma Pandits’ Sabha of Region 3 (West Demerara/Essequibo Islands) last Tuesday held its second graduation ceremony for Pandits at the Meten-Meer-Zorg (East) Mandir.
Approximately 180 persons witnessed the ceremony during which 12 Pandits were presented with certificates for completing the programme in Hindu Rituals and Ceremonies and Sanskrit.
According to a press release from Pandit Balbadar, President of the institution, the course lasted three years and included teachings in Sanskrit, performance of all Poojas, Death and After-Death Ceremonies, Marriages, Basic Astrology and Hindu Theology.
The Pandits who successfully completed the course are: Charanlall Nandalall, Hardial Doobay, Ramesh Kissoon, Chandra Shekhar Samlall, Kissoondayal. Pattiram, Haimwant Naipaul, Deonarine Muneshwar, Keran Doobay, Dharamdeo Ramgobin, Deonauth Bramdeo, Sewnarine Deonarine, Gansham Lekhram.
The release further stated that training of practising and aspiring pandits continues at Leonora, West Coast Demerara and the Gandhi Youth Organisation in Georgetown.
