Amerindian Ministry presents sport gear to several Region 8 villages

The Ministry of Amerindian Affairs as part of its goal of encouraging sports development, promoting community activities and youth development in hinterland communities recently presented a quantity of sports equipment inclusive of cricket balls, bats, pads football and nets to several Amerindian villages in Region 8 (Potaro/Siparuni).

altGovernment has been focusing on encouraging the development of sports in the hinterland regions. The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport is at present working to establish a hinterland sport programme that will come on stream next year.
While in Region 8, Minister of Amerindian Affairs Ms. Pauline Sukhai also handed over to Kopinang, a brush cutter that the village will use to maintain the yard of its nursery and primary schools.

Waipa, an extremely remote village on the Guyana/Brazil border was also supplied with an ATV. The school uniform material for the community’s children for the next school term was also distributed.
