Sheema Mangar’s murder… GPF still awaiting DNA tests’ results from Babrbados

THE Guyana Police Force (GPF) are still awaiting the DNA results from Barbados in the Sheema Mangar murder case, Deputy Commissioner of Police Law Enforcement, Seelall Persaud told this newspaper On Friday.

altHe added that samples from the piece of cloth recovered from under the motorcar, Mangar’s uniform and hair were sent to Barbados for analysis following the killing of the former Demerara Bank employee.
Persaud added that the local police have since been in contact with their overseas counterpart but it was noted that the DNA testing is yet to be completed thus, stalling the investigation process here.
Mangar was at North Road and Camp Street, in Georgetown, waiting for transportation when her Blackberry cell phone was snatched from her.
The 21-year-old gave chase after the robber who entered a motor car that drove off, placed herself in front of it in an effort to stop the thief, but was run over and the vehicle dragged her several feet before it sped away.
Public-spirited citizens rushed her to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), from where she was transferred to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and died there the next day.
Initially, two suspects were arrested but later released. However, investigators took parts of the retrieved fabric she was wearing from under the getaway car for examination.
Although persons were questioned following the murder no one was charged for the crime.
