Dave Martins performs at Global Friendship Foundation tea party/cultural show – at Herdmanston Lodge

THE Global Friendship Foundation, on Saturday last, presented a grand tea party and cultural show at the Herdmanston Lodge on Peter Rose Street, between Anira and Lamaha Streets in Queenstown, Georgetown.

altAccording to Coordinator Waynewright Orderson, the event is for Guyanese who love to attend social events, because it will afford them opportunity to spend a relaxing afternoon in the beautiful historic setting of the Herdmanston Lodge, and be entertained by the iconic singer/songwriter Dave Martins, a Guyanese who, with his band — the Tradewinds — has for more than five decades been making us laugh, reflect on our shortcomings, and take fierce pride in our Caribbean heritage.
All of this enjoyment was available whilst patrons enjoy a good chat with friends and family members as they relax; munch on elegant sandwiches, fresh pastries and cakes; and sip Lipton’s uplifting aromatic gourmet teas; refreshing low-calorie iced teas; premium coffees, lattes and cappuccinos; and fresh juices.
Dave Martins has performed at such venues as the Madison Square Garden and Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre. He has produced over 100 songs, several advertising jingles, and an award-winning play. He will be weaving the comedy and the music about Caribbean life in all its forms. Other entertainment for the afternoon included live steelband music and karate demonstrations.
Orderson promised patrons a truly classy and Caribbean signature event, tickets for which are available at Matts Record Bar but in limited quantity; and when they’re gone they’re gone!
