EX-CONVICT Ramesh Balkissoon was sentenced to three months imprisonment, last week, for pelting his former lover with a brick during a misunderstanding at Plantation Warren on October 8.

He pleaded guilty, before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo, at New Amsterdam Court, also in Berbice, to assaulting Parbattie Sarabjeet to cause her actual bodily harm.
Police Corporal Orin Joseph, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was attending a family function when Balkissoon arrived and a heated argument arose between them.
The defendant was asked to leave but he picked up a brick and hurled it at the woman who suffered injuries to her head for which she had to get treatment at New Amsterdam Hospital.
Meanwhile, before imposing sentence on Balkissoon, the magistrate was informed that he previously served several sentences for similar offences and is, currently, on a six months bond to keep the peace.
