MEMBERS of the National School of Dance were last evening rehearsing for today’s gala event at the Guyana International Conference Centre (GICC) being hosted by the People’s Progressive Party /Civic (PPP/C) Government to celebrate 20 continuous years of being in office, a period that saw a huge transformation of the country for the better. Guests at today’s event, scheduled to start at 15:00 hrs, will be treated to a spectacular cultural programme directed by Neaz Subhan and a feature address by His Excellency, President Donald Ramotar.
There will also be an exhibition, spearheaded by the Government Information Agency (GINA) that will chronicle 20 years of Guyana’s development and transformation under the PPP/C government which assumed office in 1992 under the leadership of the late Father of the Nation, Dr.  Cheddi Jagan.
“Twenty years on, most of the decrepit infrastructure and run-down systems inherited have been replaced, and there is modernization in every sector. Education, Health, Housing, Water, Infrastructure and Investments are the major uncontested foundations upon which Modern Guyana has taken its place in the global environment,” the PPP/C government stated in one of the newspaper ads to mark the occasion.
