– Gregory Shaw
CALIFORNIA Stucco Guyana Inc, new to our business world in Guyana, is promising to provide Guyanese with more options when it comes to enhancing the look of buildings with new ideas and architectural designs. Located at Lot 96 Sheriff and Bonasika Streets in Section ‘K’ Campbellville, Georgetown, this company was launched at GuyExpo on September 28, and is all about providing exterior finishes and decorative moulding for buildings.
Marketing/Project Manager, Gregory Shaw explained some of the details during an interview with the Chronicle last Thursday. Colour Tinter/Designer, Stephen Bacchus was also present at that interview.
“We enhance the look of buildings with the use of stucco. A decorative moulding makes your building pop and your neighbours jealous,” remarked Shaw.
Stucco is an acrylic elastomeric coating which has undergone vigorous laboratory testing and has in the field been proven to allow excellent workability.
The finished product has also proved to be extremely durable, providing tremendous elasticity and lasting beauty.
Stucco has been around since Work War II, Shaw pointed out, and can eliminate all the flaws and inefficiencies on walls caused by poor workmanship.
Booming Construction
California Stucco has been in existence in Trinidad and Tobago for the past eight years, and has entered the local arena with over 15 years of experience in the United States.
“Everyone wanted to know why we would come to a Third World nation, but stucco is a transforming product,” Shaw said, adding, “We see construction booming in Guyana. A lot of construction is happening, and we realize that a home is something that someone dreams about, and we want to give them options, a unique option that would enhance the look of an existing home or a new building.”
Guyana’s economy is growing, Shaw observed, and the options are very limited when it comes to construction. “We want to give people more options. We want to open their eyes to possibilities.”
Furthermore, the company is aiming to have a local workforce, 99 percent of which will be Guyanese.
“We’re looking not just to bring a product and make money, but we want to develop a country, give back in terms of employment. There is a perception that foreign companies come to exploit, but we are not here for that. We are here to add value to this country.”
From the 13 workers that the company currently has, Shaw is confident that the number will soon pass one hundred, all chosen from Guyana. The company is catering for residential, commercial and government buildings, and has already signed a number of contracts to commence work shortly.
Shaw stressed that the company is bringing a product that has to match up to US standards, and that the company’s goal is to deliver professionalism. “We keep our deadlines. We give you a warranty. Our prices are very competitive. Our product is very superior, with very low prices.”
Speaking on the reasons one should choose California Stucco, Shaw said: “When you come to us, you are getting value for money. Any buyer should not look for cost only, but for what value he will get. You are coming to a company that holds professionalism as its hallmark. We deliver whatever we promise.”
California Stucco is currently working with the Guyana Office for Investment (GOINVEST), and has been getting good responses from Government and from the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) when it comes to clearance of containers. “We’ve gotten excellence service thus far, and we are looking forward to building strong relationships with all the agencies,” Shaw said.
