THREE policemen were charged yesterday with the murder of Agricola youth Shaquille Grant, 17, who was shot dead under controversial circumstances last month.
But only one of the trio appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and she issued arrest warrants for the other two.
Constable Terrence Wallace stood alone in the court facing the joint indictable charge that said he, too, murdered Grant on September 11, in Caesar Street, Agricola, Greater Georgetown.
His co-accused, who were absent, are Corporal Warren Blue and Special Constable Jamal Lewis.
Attorney-at-law Ms. Sonia Parag represented the lone prisoner who was remanded until October 11.
Police Corporal Kerry Bostwick, prosecuting, informed the court that the whereabouts of Blue and Lewis are unknown and requested the arrest warrants for them.
The prosecutor said, on the day of the killing, a number of boys were sitting under a shed in a yard on Caesar Street, Agricola, when the three accused in police uniform entered and shot Grant.
According to the prosecution’s facts, a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver was recovered at the scene.
The killing of Grant and shooting injury of 20-year- old Rory Bollers had sparked widespread outcry and condemnation by residents of Agricola, human rights activists and the political Opposition.
